Dear Friends,
I would like to take a few moments of your time to tell you about an important event coming up. On July 7-8, I'll spend the weekend walking, along with thousands of other people, in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The KPMG team will walk one and half times the distance of a marathon (39.3 miles)! We’ll begin at Golden Gate Park, travel over the Golden Gate Bridge through Marin County, and then back to the city and through the Financial District.
I’ve pledged to raise at least $1,800 to support efforts to find a cure for breast cancer. This is less than $0.01 for each new diagnosis this year, but every bit of support helps and every dollar makes a difference. I’m asking for your support on behalf of all those whose lives are or will be affected by breast cancer: current and future patients, survivors and victims, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, families and friends.
The money raised goes to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to provide access to care and to work toward finding a cure. They provide funding to organizations all over the country in five areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars, and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs. Donations are tax deductible and you will be provided a receipt for your records. For your convenience, there are two easy ways to donate:
- 1. Enclose a check made payable to “Avon Walk for Breast Cancer” and send it to me in the mail (please email me at Lauren.Easom@gmail.com for my mailing address.) If you prefer to mail donations directly to the Avon Foundation, please let me know and I will provide the address and a donation form.
- 2. Donate online by visiting www.laureneasom.com/walk - you will be redirected to my personal donation site where you can enter your credit card information safely and securely. You can also visit www.avonwalk.org, click “Donate”, and search for my name in the “San Francisco” section.
If you would like to make your donation in support of or in memory of a loved one, please let me know and I will add her or his name to the list of those we honor as we walk. All names collected by June 10 will be listed on our jerseys.
