Where has the summer gone?

| | Comments (0)

It seems impossible to think that July is almost over - and my summer is just getting busier.

Kristin's visit was great - I only wish it could have been longer. We went to the Farmer's Market Saturday and then ventured up to Sonoma Sunday. We had a blast at Nicholson Ranch, Buena Vista, and Gundlach Bundschu and then had to rush to the airport - like I said, the weekend went by way too fast! I'll add photos as soon as she sends them.

This week I'm off to Pittsburgh, PA for a meeting, and then my mini-vacation starts. Tara is meeting me in Boise so we can drive to Wallowa for Chief Joseph Days. What is CJD you ask? Only the most important weekend of the year for Wallowa County! I haven't been for a couple of years, so I'm extra excited to see everyone and take in the rodeo. I've also got a new niece I haven't met yet - Jacie Marie Lathrop.

From Wallowa I'll head to Portland to see Jeff and Tom and then spend a night at Jeff's beach house in Lincoln City - still not sure how I'm getting there. I'll come back to SF for about 8 hours and then turn around and head to Chicago for a week of KPMG training. I'll make a quick stop in Montana for two nights to attend my friend Kim's wedding and then back home for a short break. Only two weeks off before a Labor Day weekend trip with Tara to our high school friend Bethany's wedding, then I'll come home to rest up for my trip to Montana at the end of September for recruiting/University of Montana Homecoming.

Sigh, here we go...

My birthday was on Wednesday, so to celebrate we went out last night to see a movie in Dolores Park. Appropriately, they were playing "The Karate Kid" which came out the same year I was born. It was a great time - we brought wine and blankets and gathered with about 200 others to view the flick projected onto a large screen at the corner of the park. I made a few very important decisions based on this experience:

  1. I love Ralph Macchio
  2. I don't use the phrase, "you're dead meat" enough
  3. Movies in Dolores Park are awesome
  4. I'm excited about 23 - I think it will be a fun year

Kristin will be here tonight for a fun weekend of wine tasting and girls just having fun - I can't wait!

Mom visits the City

For the first time in a long time, I stayed home for vacation and it was wonderful. We had three days off for the 4th of July holiday, and I took two more to make it a nice week-long break from work. Things have been pretty stressful since I got back from Denver and it's been nice to have a little down time. Mom came on Sunday and we spent the week just hanging out - it was so nice and relaxing. We spent a couple of days shopping and sightseeing - and one walking in Golden Gate Park. We also visited the DeYoung Museum. The weather was beautiful for the 4th - we barbecued at Dolores Park and then watched the fireworks from my living room window.

Tomorrow is the big day for my walk - wish me luck! I'm going to get to bed early tonight and try to get some rest.
